This is your chance to own a beautiful home overlooking the ocean near Bocas Del Toro. The home is located a mere 30 minutes by boat from Bocas and only 15 mins from Almirante. This is not your average Panamanian home. This house was built by Canadian craftsmen using materials imported from the U.S.
The house is supported by (28) 4ft x4ft cement pads dug down to bedrock. These pads support (28)10” square reinforced concrete posts. Each set of 4 post have 2×12 in pine beams supporting 2×8 in joists set at 1ft apart. This creates a very solid foundation for the approximately 1710 sq ft house and 900 sq ft deck with living-room, three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and seperate office. The external walls are 2×6 in studs and the ceiling roof is comprised of 2×8 in pine. The external walls and roof have been foam filled for sound proofing and to keep the house cooler.
The windows are all Jen Weld imported from the States, along with the French style front doors with built in blinds. The water system is powered by a 1/2 hp pump with two filters and two instant water heaters – one for the kitchen and laundry room and one for the two bathrooms. The septic system is a 3 chamber system consisting of the black water tank, the gray water tank, and a third tank for settling before going to the drain field. Note that this system has local government approval.
The solar system is comprised of 4200 Watts of panels, two charge controllers, one inverter, 16 6volt batteries (installed last year) and a Yamaha 6600 watt generator. The Refrigerator and freezer are a couple of years old. The rest of the appliances were shipped from the US while the house was being built. The flooring in the main room and the master bedroom was replaced with a PVC composite floor two years ago. This was at a cost of $3000.
The house sits on about 0.5 acre which makes the yard very easy to maintain. You can do it yourself or have a local worker come in twice a month for about $15 per day. The house sits next to a local Panamanian family that have provided help with big projects and they keep an eye on the property when we are not here.
